The go-to microSD for extreme outdoor content production

Whether you’re a hobbyist or a professional content creator, the durability features of your microSD card matter. Capturing drone footage or action cam shots lend dynamic imagery and compelling storytelling, but they often come with the risk that your gear is exposed to things like electric shock, rain, hard crashes, dirt, etc. And since many of your shots will be fast-paced, unique, and can't be repeated easily — you need a card like our microSD card that's reliable and ensures you get your shot.

We design and engineer our cards with your workflow and real-world experience in mind. Our cards' durability relies on built-in features such as temperature, moisture, shock, x-ray and magnet proof, ESD overload, and dust protection. The nature of drone and action cam production exposes your valuable gear and content to unpredictable outdoor conditions. This card offers robust protection, so you can have peace of mind that your content is safe.

“I use DJI Mavic Air 2S, Mavic Pro 3 Classic, Inspire 2 drones, and the GoPro Hero 10 and 360 Max action cameras. In fact, all recording modes and resolutions are supported with the speed maintained with the Angelbird microSD V30 card. The Angelbird microSD V60 variant does offer faster offload speeds if post-production efficiency is important to you. For my workflow, I use them in combination with the Angelbird UHS-II SD card adapter and the Angelbird SD Dual Card Reader for the fastest offloading results.”

What is the difference between a microSD V30 vs V60?

When choosing between a microSD V30 vs V60 card for your drone or action camera, you should know that both cards can capture high-resolution video and photo imagery in Full HD, 4K, and 6K. Since bit rate demands on drones and action cams are much lower than those required from cinema cams or DSLRs, the minimum sustained speed from each card should satisfy all recording modes available on drones and action cams.

The main benefit of our AV PRO microSD V60 vs V30 cards is that the AV PRO microSD V60 has a faster sustained offloading speed of 260 MB/s vs 95 MB/s. This can save you considerable time when transferring data between takes or during post-production.

Another way this card is different is the fact that Angelbird’s AV PRO microSD V30 card has a UHS-I interface, while the V60 uses a UHS-II interface. This is of no consequence when using either microSD with aerial drones, 360, and action cams since UHS-II devices are backward compatible with universally compatible UHS-I cards. This means that, while both cards are acceptable, you cannot realize any potential speed benefit to using a UHS-II card in a UHS-I device. When it comes to gaming consoles, for example, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, Asus ROG Ally, or AYANEO 2S only support a UHS-I card interface.

Can I use a microSD V30 card in my GoPro and my DSLR or mirrorless camera?

You can use the Angelbird AV PRO microSD V30 card in GoPro, drones, DSLRs, and mirrorless cameras to shoot video and photo content in 4K and 6K resolutions. To use a microSD card in a DSLR or mirrorless camera, you will need to utilize the included SD UHS-II adapter to convert the microSD to an SD card format. This opens up a broader range of compatibility with cameras, devices, and readers.

It is important to note that using an SD UHS-II card adapter will not alter the underlying performance technology of the microSD UHS-I V30 card. Consider the length, resolution, and recording settings your content requires, and note that the AV PRO microSD V30 has a sustained write speed of 80 MB/s and can support full HD, 4K, and 6K photo and video recording.

“As a DP, I love the technical and creative challenges of filmmaking, especially in science. The constant evolution of content creation and the challenges in post-production that come with new shooting techniques and technology excite me.”

What does V30 on a microSD card mean?

All in all, the V30 on a microSD card is a speed classification category assigned by the SD association as a consumer protection measure of performance. For the microSD memory card format, V30 indicates a guaranteed minimum video write speed of 30 MB/s.

Angelbird’s AV PRO microSD V30 is classified as a V30 card but has been tested and qualified to deliver a sustained write speed of 80 MB/s throughout the entire card capacity — a speed well above the V30 classification.

What is the “slow SD error” message on your DJI drone, and how to fix it?

When your DJI drone gives a “slow SD error,” it can indicate that your SD or microSD card cannot write fast enough to keep up with the bitrate feed from the drone. One way to avoid this is to ensure your card's sustained write speed is fast enough to handle your recording settings.

Angelbird’s AV PRO microSD V30 card provides a sustained write speed of 80 MB/s, fast enough to record 4K+ resolution for the entire card capacity. The Stable Stream™ technology of the AV PRO microSD card ensures that uninterrupted read/write performance is maintained throughout the whole capacity of the card.
