Why do I need an Angelbird/RED CFexpress Card Reader to perform a firmware update?
A successful update requires the card and card reader chip components to communicate with the drivers and software behind your operating system (macOS, Windows, etc.). This communication between the firmware update tool and the card is only possible with an Angelbird or RED CFexpress card reader chip. Using another reader would lead to a communication error and an unsuccessful update.
